I watched this video on Youtube by Matt Cutts, some Computer Scientist working in Google. Supposedly high rank one. The video is named: Trying Something New for 30 days. I won’t brand this idea as revolutionary. If you google, it’s easy to find that it takes 21 to 30 days to form a habit. Whatever habit you want.

If you are as old as I am, you would be guilty of saying at least one of these at any time of the year:

“Geez, it was just Christmas and we are now already in June?”

“Oh my, Quarter One just ended with such poor/fantastic sales. And now we are already in end of Quarter Three?”

“Time flies. ….. (complete the sentence)”

“Oh my! I am now 40 years old! What have I done to all these time!”

Guilty? Definitely.

I make such comments EVERY YEAR.

So this trying something new for 30 Days somehow suddenly appeals to me. It’s like DNG! Enlightenment – that kind of feeling.

Naturally 30 Day Challenge means doing something that you don’t normally do for even a few days. Something that you always wanted to do but never get to it.

Here’s my list of 30 Day Challenges that I am comtemplating:

  1. Since I am so really in Bikram Yoga these days, I would hope to do the Bikram Yoga 30 Day Challenge;
  2. Take a picture everyday;
  3. Use the stairs;
  4. Leave work on time – as in when I am back from work, my mind/body/soul is home;
  5. Finish a Scrapbooking Project;
  6. Run everyday;
  7. One Kind Act a Day;
  8. Be Thankful;
  9. Take up an online course;
  10. Never Eat until you are full;
  11. No sugar;
  12. Be Calm;
  13. Meditate 20min a day;
  14. Keep a Food Diary;
  15. Record every finance transaction;
  16. No Facebook or online games (ugh);
  17. One household chore a day;
  18. Smile;
  19. Wipe the mirror everyday (I am fanatic about clean, clear mirror);
  20. No anger;
  21. Never late / Always early;
  22. No shopping except for groceries/necessities;
  23. Clear the cats poo (ok, the husband does it most of the time);
  24. Wake up at 6am to exercise;
  25. Write a 50,000 word novel in a month – 1,666 words a day;
  26. Paint;
  27. Knit for half an hour everyday – it’s actualy therapeutic you know;
  28. No coffee or tea;
  29. No soft drinks. Only water or juices;
  30. 4 litres of water a day – not for shower (what were you thinking?). Drinking I mean!

Can’t say which challenge I am going to start with at this point in time. Imagine, if I set a challenge for myself every month, how meaningful it’s going to be at the end of the year when I look back on new year’s eve? Game to join me in this challenge?
